BYD plans 3,000 flash-charging stations in Europe by March 2027
The company targets 6,000 charging sites abroad overall, with some models adding over 900 km of range after under 10 minutes of charging.
BYD said it is building a network of 6,000 charging stations in overseas markets, including Europe, as it accelerates the rollout of its flash-charging technology. The South China Morning Post reports BYD aims to have 3,000 stations in operation across Europe by the end of March 2027.
BYD also plans to add 2,000 stations in the Americas and 1,000 in the Asia-Pacific region over the same period. The newest BYD charging stations can deliver a driving range of more than 900 kilometres after less than 10 minutes of charging for some of its pure electric models, according to the report.
The infrastructure push is tied to a surge in global EV demand amid an energy shock linked to the US-Israel war on Iran, which creates a strategic opportunity for China’s EV makers, the outlet said, citing input from Qian Kang, owner of a factory supplying vehicle circuit boards in Zhejiang.
Qian also said the overseas buildout needs to keep pace with sales growth, noting that adding 6,000 stations abroad in under a year reflects BYD’s ambition to internationalize quickly.
