Crypto.com gets $400M from Citadel Securities at a $20B valuation
The investment is intended to fund Crypto.com’s expansion into blockchain-based securities and derivatives.
Crypto.com has received a $400 million investment from market maker Citadel Securities, valuing the crypto exchange at $20 billion, according to an announcement cited by Bitcoin Magazine.
Crypto.com said the funding will support expansion of its digital asset products toward assets including blockchain-based securities and derivatives.
The company framed the move as a step toward bridging digital asset markets with traditional finance to create a more efficient, 24/7 financial ecosystem.
In a statement carried by Bitcoin Magazine, Crypto.com CEO Kris Marszalek said the opportunity is large as crypto becomes infrastructure for finance, while Citadel Securities President Jim Esposito pointed to the convergence of traditional markets and digital asset systems.
