Hedge funds stay underweight UK equities as defensive appeal fades
Hedge funds and other institutional investors are remaining underweight UK equities as sentiment shifts away from defensive stocks, according to a report cited by Hedgeweek.
The change comes as global investors grow more bearish toward London’s defensive market backdrop, with improving expectations for the global economy boosting demand for more cyclical and technology stocks.
Hedgeweek said the relative rotation has left UK defensives out of favor for hedge funds as investors seek exposure they expect to benefit from a stronger economic outlook.
