Tishman Speyer appoints ex-Prologis exec Joseph Ghazal to lead growth

Ghazal will be based in New York and begin the role in August as Tishman targets expansion into the Middle East and India, with the firm holding $70 billion in assets across 40 markets.

Tishman Speyer has hired Joseph Ghazal, a former Prologis executive, as its new senior managing director and global head of growth, Commercial Observer reports. Ghazal will lead Tishman’s international growth strategy and is tasked with identifying acquisition and development opportunities as the firm expands into the Middle East and India.

The new hire brings more than two decades of real estate leadership, including a role as global chief investment officer at Prologis where he oversaw investment strategy, capital deployment, and business development. At Tishman, he will be based in New York City and report directly to CEO Rob Speyer, with an August start date.

In a separate statement, Rob Speyer pointed to Tishman’s prior growth and diversification efforts, including new international markets and investment vehicles. Tishman says it has $70 billion in assets under management across 40 markets in the U.S., Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

Commercial Observer also notes that the firm has continued activity at its New York headquarters, including securing $214 million in construction financing for a 100 percent affordable housing project in Far Rockaway, Queens, and signing a 59,746-square-foot lease at the Spiral in March with Point72 Asset Management, owned by New York Mets proprietor Steve Cohen.
