Zillow expands CFO Jeremy Hofmann into COO role after layoffs
The executive reshuffle follows layoffs affecting about 7% of staff, and Zillow says Hofmann will oversee both day-to-day operations and financial strategy.
Zillow has expanded CFO Jeremy Hofmann’s responsibilities to include chief operating officer duties as part of an executive reshuffle that followed layoffs affecting about 7% of its staff, HousingWire reports.
The company also named Sandi Knight as its first chief legal and policy officer and promoted two senior vice presidents. HousingWire adds that the changes come one day after Zillow laid off more than 500 employees as part of what the company called a restructuring effort.
Zillow said it had not disclosed which departments were affected, but posts from impacted former employees on LinkedIn indicated many of the impacted roles were tied to Zillow Rentals, product design and management, and other marketing and sales teams.
HousingWire reports that Jun Choo, who had served as chief operating officer since November 2024, is stepping down to focus on his health, while serving in an advisory capacity through the end of 2026, and that the board cited Hofmann’s command of Zillow’s strategy and operational dependencies across the business for the expanded remit.
