Xpeng targets humanoid robot deliveries in 2027, scaling production
The company projects producing more than 1,000 humanoid robots per month by the end of 2026 and starting commercial deliveries in 2027.
Chinese electric vehicle maker Xpeng said it expects to scale humanoid robot production to more than 1,000 units per month by the end of 2026, as it pushes toward a global launch of its next-generation robot, Iron. According to a statement to the South China Morning Post, Xpeng also projected that commercial deliveries would begin in 2027.
Xpeng’s plan is framed as competition with Tesla in so-called physical AI, where intelligent software is integrated into robotics and machinery. The company said its manufacturing capacity would support Iron’s rollout beyond China.
The robot is powered by Xpeng’s Vision-Language-Action 2.0 AI model, which the company says translates visual information directly into motion. Xpeng contrasted the approach with older systems that first convert images into text-based code before executing movements.
Earlier, Xpeng CEO He Xiaopeng said in November the company expected to sell 1 million robots by 2030, and pledged to lower production costs to make robots more affordable for households, the outlet reported.
