Boeing opens new 737 production line as 737 demand stays strong

The new production line is aimed at meeting strong demand for the 737 MAX, even as orders for Boeing's newer aircraft lag Airbus.

Boeing is making a push to turn around its recent period of disruption by opening a new production line, a move intended to help the company keep up with strong demand for its 737 MAX, according to an NYT Business report.

The outlet also noted that while Boeing is ramping 737 output, orders for its new aircraft are not keeping pace with rivals, with Airbus taking a lead on new-plane demand.

The update frames Boeing's production expansion as a near term response to current order strength, even as the company faces a separate challenge on new aircraft orders.
