Leonidas proposes open-source Bitcoin client that changes Ordinals rules

The proposal would raise the maximum transaction size to 3.9 million weight units from Bitcoin Core’s 400,000 WU and cut the dust limit to 1 satoshi.

Cointelegraph reports that Bitcoin Ordinals advocate Leonidas has proposed a new open source Bitcoin client called “Bitcoin $DOG Mode,” aimed at reducing restrictions tied to Runes and Ordinals transactions.

In a post on Friday, Leonidas said the client would lift the maximum individual transaction size to 3.9 million weight units, up from Bitcoin Core’s 400,000 WU, and would lower the dust limit to 1 satoshi from a range of 294 to 546 sats.

The proposal is intended to make it easier for Ordinals users to send larger inscriptions or file collections within a single transaction, potentially near the size of an entire block.

Leonidas also argued that Bitcoin Core and Bitcoin Knots have enforced rules that Bitcoin itself does not require, and said the goal is to attract enough users that Bitcoin Core eventually loosens its own policy restrictions.
