Pentagon temporarily restores escort requirement for visiting journalists

An appeals court ruling allows the Defense Department to require escorts while the New York Times challenges the policy in court.

An appeals court said the Defense Department can require military escorts for reporters visiting the Pentagon, as the New York Times continues its legal challenge to the rule, according to the New York Times Business.

The court’s decision kept the escort policy in place on a temporary basis, while the newspaper’s lawsuit seeks to overturn the Defense Department’s authority to impose the requirement.
