UK gang jailed over $5.4 million crypto scam posing as police

The gang used fake police websites to steal cryptocurrency from eight victims, prosecutors said.

According to The Block, a UK gang has been jailed over a cryptocurrency scam in which members posed as police officers.

The outlet said the scheme relied on convincing fake police websites to persuade victims to hand over crypto assets.

Prosecutors reported that the group stole more than £4 million in cryptocurrency from eight victims, the case totaling about $5.4 million.
