US regulators miss deadline for final stablecoin rules under GENIUS Act
The delay leaves stablecoin issuers with a compressed implementation window before the law takes effect on Jan. 18, 2027.
The Block reports that U.S. regulators missed the GENIUS Act’s one year deadline for issuing final stablecoin rules.
While the regulators' timeline slipped, the delay does not change when the law takes effect, with the Jan. 18, 2027 effective date remaining in place.
That means regulators and stablecoin issuers now face a shorter period to implement the rules once they are finalized.
