Mortgage and refinance rates rise after Iranian conflict escalated
Zillow lender marketplace data show the 30-year fixed moved up to 6.48%, while the 15-year fixed climbed to 5.90%.
Mortgage and refinance interest rates increased versus the prior week, according to rates from the Zillow lender marketplace. The current 30-year fixed rate rose 4 basis points to 6.48%, the 15-year fixed increased 8 basis points to 5.90%, and the 5/1 ARM rose 3 basis points to 6.46%, with figures presented as national averages rounded to the nearest hundredth.
Yahoo Finance noted that refinance rates can be higher than purchase rates, though it is not always the case, and emphasized the lender marketplace data come via the Zillow Mortgage API.
The update also included a typical mortgage payment breakdown example for a monthly total of $2,666, showing principal and interest as the largest component at 81%, followed by property taxes at 13% and other listed costs.
