Allianz Jio Reinsurance writes ₹266 crore gross premiums in first quarter

The venture began underwriting in India after receiving final regulatory approval in March 2026, and has set up retrocession frameworks for capital efficiency and exposure management.

Allianz Jio Reinsurance, a 50:50 joint venture between Allianz Group and Jio Financial Services Limited (JFSL), underwrote gross premiums of ₹266 crore in its first full quarter of operations in India, according to Reinsurance News.

The company secured lead reinsurer status on major treaty programs across prominent Indian private insurers, combining JFSL’s local market reach and digital infrastructure with Allianz’s global underwriting scale and reinsurance capabilities.

Allianz Jio Re began underwriting operations after final regulatory approval was granted in March 2026. Reinsurance News also said the venture established retrocession frameworks aimed at maximizing capital efficiency and advancing exposure management.

The venture is led by Sonia Rawal as CEO, and Reinsurance News reported it has priority market access as India’s third licensed domestic reinsurer.
