Chubb Tempest Re appoints Wixtead as executive chairman
James Wixtead will oversee governance and strategy for Chubb Tempest Re, while Michael O’Donnell takes day to day executive management as president.
Chubb has appointed James Wixtead as Executive Chairman of its global reinsurance business, Chubb Tempest Re, and named Michael O’Donnell President of Chubb Tempest Re. O’Donnell will also serve as Senior Vice President of Chubb Group, according to Reinsurance News.
The appointments follow Wixtead’s succession and shift responsibilities within the reinsurance unit. Wixtead will provide governance oversight and advise on strategy for Chubb’s global reinsurance business, bringing nearly 40 years of insurance industry experience.
O’Donnell will assume day to day executive management for the reinsurance operation, covering both top and bottom line results. He will report to Evan G. Greenberg, Chubb’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, and John Keogh, President and Chief Operating Officer of Chubb Group.
Reinsurance News said Chubb Tempest Re offers a range of traditional and specialty reinsurance products to a portfolio of primary property and casualty insurers. Greenberg praised Wixtead’s underwriting discipline and said O’Donnell has led the U.S. reinsurance operation for more than a decade.
