LM Re names Tom Spurgeon global head of cyber reinsurance

Spurgeon will lead growth of LM Re’s global cyber portfolio and work with brokers and clients on structured cyber solutions.

Liberty Mutual Reinsurance Group, part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has appointed Tom Spurgeon as Global Head of Cyber Reinsurance, succeeding Ivonne Staisch, who left the business after seven years.

Spurgeon is based in London and will report to Susan Barber, Head of Financial Risks, Reinsurance at LM Re. In the role, he is responsible for growing LM Re’s global cyber portfolio, including working with brokers and clients to develop structured cyber solutions.

Reinsurance News also said Spurgeon has been with LM Re for the past nine years and was recently recognized for his leadership on the International Underwriting Association of London Cyber Reinsurance Committee.

Barber said the appointment reflects Liberty’s investment in talent, and that in a more complex risk environment LM Re is focused on delivering tailored cyber solutions, with Spurgeon helping develop the company’s global cyber portfolio.
