Russian missile strikes kill six sailors on Turkish-owned grain ship

Kyiv said eight crew members were rescued, two injured, and the Golden Leo was hit near Odesa after departing with a cargo of grain.

Ukraine said Russian missile strikes killed six people on the Turkish-owned cargo ship Golden Leo, which was carrying grain and departing the combat zone.

According to Ukraine’s navy, Russia launched three cruise missiles at the vessel while it was leaving the area, and the ship, which flies the flag of Guinea-Bissau, was struck near Odesa after leaving port.

Kyiv’s transport minister said eight crew members were rescued, two were injured, six sailors were confirmed dead, and four more were missing, with Ukrainian officials saying the crew included citizens of Syria and India.

Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga said a Ukrainian maritime pilot was killed and accused Moscow of continuing attacks hours after a fresh barrage hit Kyiv.
