Private hiring slows again in NER Pulse estimate
For the four weeks ending July 4, 2026, the average weekly job gain for private employers fell to 16,500 from 19,750 the prior week, marking a fourth straight slowdown.
Forexlive reports that US private employers added an average of 16,500 jobs per week over the four weeks ending July 4, 2026, a decline from 19,750 in the prior week estimate.
The hiring slowdown extended for a fourth straight week, according to the NER Pulse framework, which provides a week-over-week employment change estimate based on a four-week moving average.
Forexlive says the figures are preliminary and subject to change as new data is added, and that the NER Pulse releases are seasonally adjusted with a two-week lag to improve estimates of near-term employment trends.
The outlet also notes the NER Pulse is published three times a month and is not issued during National Employment Report release weeks, when a separate reference-week methodology is used.
