Zhejiang University AI agent tops autonomous science research ranking
The Zhejiang University-led Qiushi Engine, launched last week, led the ResearchClawBench leaderboard ahead of Open Science Desktop and Anthropic’s Claude Code.
A Zhejiang University-led AI system, Qiushi Engine, has taken the top spot on an international benchmark for autonomous scientific research, ahead of Open Science Desktop in second place and Anthropic’s Claude Code in third, according to SCMP Economy.
The ResearchClawBench test evaluates whether AI agents can independently carry out research and then match, or even outperform, human-written reference conclusions, with results compared against papers authored by people.
SCMP Economy reports that Qiushi Engine was officially launched last week by a Zhejiang University-led team. The system is described as a large language model-based agent aimed at performing scientific research in real physical environments.
The outlet adds that the creators say Qiushi Engine can support end-to-end autonomous scientific discovery, positioning it as more broadly capable than systems limited to specific tasks.
