US stock futures rise as diplomatic signals ease Middle East tensions
Risk appetite improved after Iranian officials said they received proposals to de-escalate with the US, with some reports suggesting a potential 10-day ceasefire.
US stock futures climbed in early trading Tuesday, with Dow Jones futures up 0.29% to around 52,220. S&P 500 futures rose 0.44% and Nasdaq 100 futures gained 1.12%, trading near 7,520 and 29,100, respectively.
The rebound followed a more muted session on Monday, when the Dow Jones fell 0.59%, the S&P 500 dropped 0.19%, and the Nasdaq Composite slid 0.05%. FXStreet attributed the shift to fading risk aversion linked to emerging diplomatic signals.
Iranian officials confirmed they received mediator proposals aimed at de-escalating tensions with the United States, and some reporting pointed to a potential 10-day ceasefire. FXStreet also noted that President Trump was weighing a temporary ceasefire to reopen the Strait of Hormuz versus a broader joint military campaign with Israel, while US forces build up in the region.
Despite the improved tone, markets remained sensitive to macro concerns, with FXStreet citing rising Treasury yields linked to spiking oil prices and renewed worries about persistent inflation and potential Federal Reserve rate hikes this year. Traders were also looking ahead to corporate earnings, including results from Charles Schwab, Chubb, Danaher, General Motors, and 3M.
