Chris Baker to head specialty reinsurance at Atrium starting July 2027
Atrium said Baker, who currently leads global reinsurance at Chaucer, is responsible for almost $2 billion in premium and will underwrite for the 2028 year of account.
Atrium, a specialty insurer at Lloyd’s, announced the appointment of Chris Baker as Head of Specialty Reinsurance, with him scheduled to join in July 2027 after completing his contractual obligations.
Atrium said Baker will underwrite for the 2028 Year of Account and will develop the company’s specialty reinsurance portfolio, aligned with its five-year transformation strategy.
Baker brings 22 years of reinsurance industry experience, and Atrium noted he is currently Head of Global Reinsurance at Chaucer, where he is responsible for almost $2 billion in premium.
Atrium CEO John Fowle said the company is “thrilled” to welcome Baker, citing his expertise in complex reinsurance structures and his ability to deliver solutions to clients and brokers, and linking the hiring to Atrium’s plan to grow reinsurance in areas aligned with client demand.
