Trump's American-made AI chip push squeezes TSMC margins

TSMC says it has committed $200 billion to U.S. chip manufacturing since Trump returned to power in 2025.

CNBC Markets reports that the push for American-made AI chips is putting pressure on TSMC’s profit margins.

The Taiwan-based chipmaker has announced $200 billion in investment into U.S. manufacturing since Trump returned to power in 2025, according to CNBC World.

The report links the margin squeeze to the costs and tradeoffs associated with expanding local U.S. production under the administration’s focus on domestic chipmaking.
