Ukraine strikes Wildberries warehouses as Russia consumer war intensifies

The attacks hit four Wildberries warehouses over the last week, raising risks for retailers using the platform and for customers ordering essentials and other goods.

Wildberries, Russia’s top online retailer and a major part of the country’s consumer economy, has become a target of Ukraine drone strikes, with attacks on four of its warehouses over the last week, according to Reuters. Reuters reports that Wildberries grew from a family business near Moscow into a company that processes about 20 million orders per day across warehouses totaling 33 million square feet. The strikes threaten losses for businesses that sell through the platform and could disrupt customers who use it to buy clothing, appliances, medicines, cosmetics, and other products, Reuters added. On the other side of the war, Russia has attacked Ukrainian infrastructure, logistics and enterprises throughout the 4½-year conflict, Reuters said, as both sides expand pressure on economic and supply chains.
