Winklevoss Twins donate over $10 million to Trump super PAC
The filing shows Tyler and Cameron each gave more than $5 million after liquidating Bitcoin to MAGA Inc., which has raised over $400 million ahead of November midterms.
Crypto entrepreneurs Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss donated over $10 million from Bitcoin proceeds to MAGA Inc., a super PAC supporting President Donald Trump, according to a Tuesday filing reported by Bitcoin Magazine.
The filing shows each twin, founders of the public crypto exchange Gemini, donated more than $5 million, after liquidating Bitcoin to the political committee.
The donation follows recent regulatory developments for Gemini, including that the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission asked a judge to vacate its $5 million penalty during the period since Trump took office.
Bitcoin Magazine also noted that MAGA Inc. has raised more than $400 million in fresh cash ahead of November midterm elections, and that the Winklevoss twins have previously pointed to a more pro-crypto political environment as important for the industry.
