China tells Brazil it will defend its sovereignty after new US tariffs
The comments came hours after the US imposed a 25.0% tariff on Brazilian goods, according to SCMP Economy.
China told Brazil it would continue to support Brazil’s sovereignty, security, and development interests after the US tariffed Brazilian goods, SCMP Economy reported.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made the remarks to Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira in Manila on Wednesday.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 59th meeting of ASEAN foreign ministers, where Vieira said Wang Yi also conveyed China’s stance following the tariff impact.
SCMP Economy said the US tariff, set at 25.0% on Brazilian goods, took effect shortly before Wang and Vieira’s meeting.
