Gemini sends $10M in Bitcoin to pro-Trump super PAC ahead of CFTC court bid
The transfer followed the CFTC’s bid with Gemini to unwind a $5 million settlement, with the court scheduled to consider the reversal.
Cointelegraph reports that Gemini sent $10 million in Bitcoin to a super political action committee supporting Donald Trump, according to the PAC’s Federal Election Commission filing.
The MAGA Inc. Super PAC reported that Gemini Trust Company, run by co-founders Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, made two separate Bitcoin contributions of more than $5 million each on June 19. The PAC said it can use the funds for independent expenditures to back Trump as a New York court considers whether to reverse a $5 million settlement involving the CFTC.
The donation came about three weeks after the CFTC filed a joint motion with Gemini in federal court to undo a January 2025 settlement over allegations that the exchange made false or misleading statements. CFTC Chair Michael Selig said at the time that the agency, under the Biden administration, “politically targeted” the Winklevosses through enforcement actions.
Cointelegraph also notes that beyond the recent PAC contributions, Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss each donated $1 million to Trump’s 2024 campaign and supported him through social media posts. After Trump took office in January 2025, they attended a stablecoin payments bill signing ceremony for the GENIUS Act, backed his sons’ crypto mining venture American Bitcoin, and contributed $21 million in Bitcoin to the Digital Freedom Fund PAC, the outlet reports.
