Infosys voluntary attrition rate falls to 13% in Q1 FY27

The IT services firm also cut its workforce by 532 sequentially to 328,062 employees as of June 30, 2026.

Infosys reported Q1 FY27 results for the quarter ended June, alongside updates on employee attrition and headcount. The company said its voluntary attrition rate fell to 13% on a trailing 12-month basis, down from 14.4% in the year-ago period.

On a sequential basis, however, attrition edged up to reflect an increase from the March 2026 quarter’s 12.6% level. Infosys reported total workforce of 328,062 employees as of June 30, 2026, down from 328,594 at the end of March, a net reduction of 532 employees.

LiveMint also noted that Infosys added 4,274 employees on a year-on-year basis, with headcount rising from 323,788 in June 2025. The outlet attributed broader domestic cost cutting and reduced graduate hiring to continued weakening demand for legacy IT projects, as clients shift focus toward artificial intelligence.

The report said Indian IT companies are also trying to capture more of AI-related spending while using AI to improve operational efficiency, with rapid advances in AI tools from firms such as OpenAI and Anthropic posing a challenge for the sector, according to LiveMint.
