Office market focus shifts beyond remote work and peak rates
ConnectCRE says office users may increasingly evaluate buildings for AI readiness, including whether they support an AI-capable workforce and help attract talent.
ConnectCRE says much of the office real estate conversation remains stuck on familiar themes, including remote work mandates, flight-to-quality trends, and peak interest rates, while industry leaders are watching other dynamics that have not yet moved to center stage.
In particular, ConnectCRE highlights a growing line of thinking around whether future office space is AI-ready, suggesting companies could develop building “AI scores” based on whether a site can support a technology-enabled workforce and whether it helps with attracting and retaining the talent needed to build and use AI.
ConnectCRE also points to research cited by its contributors, including the idea that workplace relationships can drive engagement, noting Gallup findings that having a best friend at work is a leading predictor of employee wellness and engagement.
In addition, ConnectCRE notes that artificial intelligence could make companies more selective about where roles are located, as geopolitical shifts, supply chain changes, and workforce dynamics influence decisions about geographic footprints.
