Rubio says US pressure on Iran will keep increasing until talks resume
The comments came as the US and Iran traded nightly strikes and oil prices continued to surge without a clear peak, Forexlive reported.
Forexlive reports that US Secretary Rubio said the “price” on Iran will increase each night until Iran changes its negotiating stance. The remarks come amid ongoing US and Iranian exchanges of military strikes following the collapse of a ceasefire earlier this month.
According to Forexlive, the US has carried out nightly airstrikes targeting Iranian military infrastructure, while Iran has responded with missile and drone attacks against US-linked assets across the region.
Forexlive also said Iran has continued threatening shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and, more recently, the Red Sea via the Houthis. The report added that the US is maintaining diplomacy while increasing military and economic pressure to push Iran back to the negotiating table.
However, Forexlive noted that with both sides continuing daily strikes and neither signaling a pullback, a near-term diplomatic breakthrough appears unlikely, and oil prices remain elevated with no clear top in sight.
