APEC nations endorse open source AI cooperation with strong security focus
The APEC statement, led by China’s industry minister, marks the first minister-level pledge to cooperate on open source AI across member economies.
CNBC reports that APEC member economies backed cooperation on open source artificial intelligence, with a stated emphasis on strong security, in a statement issued at a China summit.
The coverage says the agreement is the first in APEC materials to include open source cooperation at a minister level, according to China’s industry and information technology minister, Li Lecheng.
CNBC also notes that Li said the approach reflects a broader push for AI collaboration under security expectations as multiple nations align on the scope of open source work.
