Climate X launches Global Wildfire model for asset-level exposure analysis
The model targets 30m resolution outputs and aims to translate wildfire hazard into probabilistic financial loss estimates, with scenarios extending to 2100.
Climate X announced the launch of Global Wildfire, a global probabilistic wildfire model intended to help insurers, asset managers, and public sector organizations assess wildfire exposure at the asset level.
The company said rising wildfire frequency and severity are making it harder for organizations to obtain accurate, consistent risk information, and it cited Swiss Re estimating wildfire losses could reach $40bn in 2025.
Climate X said many existing models lack the detail needed for risk assessment across diverse global portfolios, and Global Wildfire is designed as a more detailed alternative to index-based and historical approaches by combining scientific modeling with asset-level analysis.
The model is built to deliver risk outputs at 30m (98ft) resolution, incorporating local landscape conditions, building characteristics, and potential financial impacts, and it can evaluate future wildfire scenarios through 2100 across different climate pathways. Climate X also said Global Wildfire covers 93% of global GDP across eight regions to support consistent comparisons of exposure across markets using one methodology.
