Fortinet teams with Intel to develop security processor SP6

Fortinet said the SP6 work builds on its security ASIC expertise as the company reported Q1 2026 revenue growth of 20% year over year to $1.85 billion.

Fortinet announced a collaboration with Intel to develop the Fortinet Security Processor 6, or SP6, combining Fortinet’s security ASIC expertise with Intel’s manufacturing capabilities.

The deal underscores Fortinet’s push toward next generation hardware defenses as cyber threats evolve alongside more active AI systems, according to the discussion around the collaboration.

Fortinet also pointed to recent momentum, reporting Q1 2026 revenue increased 20% year over year to $1.85 billion, with product revenue up 41% to $645 million and billings rising 31% to $2.09 billion.

The article notes investors have continued paying higher multiples for the stock, citing valuation levels above sector medians based on both trailing and forward price to earnings, alongside strong operating margin results in the quarter.
