Hoskinson warns Bitcoin could slip if governance falters on threats
Hoskinson argued Cardano’s on-chain governance is designed to approve upgrades when “existential” technical risks emerge, giving it an edge versus systems he says may not adapt quickly enough.
Cardano co-founder Charles Hoskinson said Bitcoin could lose its leading position if governance is not able to handle major existential threats tied to emerging technology, according to The Block.
Hoskinson pointed to a “quantum test,” arguing that the ability of a network to make changes through governance and enact upgrades would determine which crypto networks can better respond to such risks.
He said Cardano’s governance model, and its capacity to push updates, would make it more prepared than systems where upgrades are harder to coordinate when facing potentially game changing technical tests.
The Block reports that Hoskinson frames the issue as less about current performance and more about how quickly and effectively a network can govern itself through unforeseen challenges.
