Middle East conflict escalates, putting key oil-export corridors at risk
OilPrice says Iran and Houthis have targeted assets tied to major regional shipping routes, raising the risk to exports through Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
OilPrice reports that conflict in the Middle East has intensified, with Iran attacking military infrastructure that supports U.S. operations across the region over 12 consecutive nights of U.S. strikes on Iranian command centers, missile sites, air defenses, and nuclear-linked facilities.
According to OilPrice, Iran has hit American radar, communications, air-defense, and aviation assets in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan, including facilities linked to the Fifth Fleet, Camp Arifjan, Ali Al Salem Air Base, and Muwaqqf Salti Air Base. The outlet also says Iranian attacks have killed U.S. personnel across Jordan, Kuwait, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia.
OilPrice adds that Iran has maintained control over the Strait of Hormuz, attacked tankers on routes it did not authorize, and threatened to block regional exports of oil, gas, and petrochemicals. It also says Washington is responding with an expanded bombing campaign, a restored naval blockade, and threats of a larger assault.
OilPrice further reports that the conflict is affecting both major oil-export corridors, citing Yemen's Houthis striking Saudi tankers Encelia and Layla in the Red Sea after declaring a blockade on Saudi-linked shipping through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, threatening the route Riyadh uses to bypass Hormuz.
