Ripple expands RLUSD with institutional minting and Notabene integration
Ripple said RLUSD’s market value is about $1.5 billion, even as monthly transfer volume fell 25%.
Ripple announced two initiatives aimed at boosting real world use of its dollar-backed stablecoin RLUSD, launching an institutional minting platform and adding the token to a compliance-focused payments network.
According to CoinDesk, Ripple Mint is an automated web dashboard and API set that lets institutional customers create, redeem, bridge and track RLUSD, replacing a more manual issuance process. Ripple also said it is extending RLUSD beyond the XRP Ledger and Ethereum to additional networks including the XRPL EVM sidechain, Base, Optimism, Ink and Unichain.
Separately, Ripple said it made a strategic investment in Notabene, integrating RLUSD into Notabene’s business payments platform to route the stablecoin through institutional transaction workflows.
CoinDesk reported RLUSD has a market value of about $1.5 billion, with supply split between the XRP Ledger and Ethereum, but that market cap and monthly transfer volume have declined, with transfer volume down 25% in the month. The company framed the move as closing the gap between making RLUSD available and driving actual transaction volume.
