US sets tariffs up to 12.5% on 60 trading partners

The new duties replace a temporary 10.0% global tariff that ended Friday, after earlier Trump tariffs were struck down by the US Supreme Court.

According to SCMP Economy, the United States has imposed tariffs as high as 12.5% on 60 trading partners, including China, as President Donald Trump adjusted the approach for his global trade war.

The outlet says the levies are linked to forced labor and replace a temporary 10.0% global tariff that expired on Friday.

SCMP Economy also notes that the earlier 10.0% tax was implemented after previous Trump tariffs were struck down by the US Supreme Court.
