Williams buys 64-story Williams Tower in Houston for $300 million

The 1.4 million-square-foot office tower is about 83% leased, and Williams plans to invest in the building and surrounding property to add new amenities.

The Williams Companies has acquired the 64-story, 1.4 million-square-foot Williams Tower at 2800 Post Oak Blvd. just south of The Galleria in Houston for $300 million, according to ConnectCRE.

ConnectCRE said Williams' involvement with the tower dates back to 1995, when the company acquired Transco Energy Co., the building's named anchor tenant. The building's name was later changed to Williams Tower in 1999.

The outlet added that Williams does not plan to relocate its Tulsa headquarters to the glass-encased tower, despite the company taking ownership now. Williams also intends to invest in the building and surrounding property to add new amenities for its employees and other tenants.

ConnectCRE reported the property is currently about 83% leased.
