US midterm polls point to Democratic control of the House, 100 days out

One hundred days ahead of the US midterm elections, polling points to the likelihood that President Donald Trump’s Republicans could lose the House of Representatives, while also facing a closely contested fight to retain control of the Senate, according to an Agence France-Presse report via SCMP Economy.
The report says that even though Trump will not be on the ballot on November 3, a Democratic-controlled House would give Democrats control of key committees and subpoena authority, setting up the potential for two years of investigations and raising the prospect of another impeachment effort.
SCMP Economy notes that Republicans currently have a historically narrow House majority and are contending with weak presidential approval and voter anger over living costs amid the war with Iran.
Decision Desk HQ predicts Democrats have a 59.0% chance of winning the House, estimating a 224 to 211 majority, and the report adds that midterms typically result in the president’s party losing ground, with only a limited number of seats needing to flip.
