Coinbase adds a Launches tab to trade new Base and Solana tokens

The feature is built into Coinbase’s decentralized exchange, routes trades to onchain liquidity, and requires users to set up a self-custody wallet.

Coinbase said its new Launches tab is now available, letting users find and trade tokens on Base and Solana as soon as they go live onchain. The exchange said the tab appears inside Coinbase’s built-in decentralized exchange, which routes trades to onchain liquidity rather than requiring each token to be formally listed on Coinbase’s centralized marketplace.

Coinbase’s product materials say DEX trading is designed to surface popular and trending tokens on Base and Solana moments after launch, with access to key data and risk signals for all tokens. The company also said DEX trading requires users to create a self-custody wallet before trading.

The Launches tab is gated to Coinbase’s DEX rails, and Coinbase said the DEX trading feature is not available in all locations. Coinbase did not specify which app surface hosts the tab, which regions are supported, or any published threshold for which newly launched tokens will appear on the feature.

The rollout extends Coinbase’s broader shift onchain, including earlier DEX support for its Base network and plans to add native trading of Solana-based tokens. In November, Coinbase announced it was acquiring Solana-based trading platform Vector, which it said would help fold token tracking and tools into the DEX system to list new tokens faster.
