Hedge funds grow biggest bearish Canadian dollar position in two years

Bloomberg, citing the latest CFTC data, said hedge funds are holding their most negative CAD exposure in nearly two years as renewed US tariff threats weigh on the loonie.

Hedge funds have increased their bearish positioning on the Canadian dollar to the most negative level in nearly two years, according to a report cited by Bloomberg.

The shift comes as renewed US tariff threats add additional pressure on the loonie, Bloomberg said based on the latest Commodity Futures Trading Commission data.

The data points to a broader change in how hedge funds are positioning for currency moves linked to trade risk between the United States and Canada.
