REalloys builds North America rare earth supply chain as China curbs exports

The company says its first commercial facilities are expected to start up in the New Year as a Pentagon ban on Chinese-origin rare earth magnets takes effect.

OilPrice reports that China is moving to bring more rare earth manufacturing back inside its borders by using export restrictions that target American plans to begin commercial production of rare earth magnet materials by 2027.

In response, REalloys, listed on the Nasdaq as ALOY, is rebuilding major steps of North America’s rare earth industry into a mine-to-magnet supply chain meant to operate independently of Chinese material. The outlet says the company has assembled feedstock, separation, metallization, alloy production, and permanent magnet manufacturing over the past two years.

OilPrice adds that REalloys expects its first commercial facilities to come online in the New Year as the Pentagon’s ban on Chinese-origin rare earth magnets takes effect, pressuring defense manufacturers to secure new sources of supply.

The outlet also cites support for the effort, including Defense Logistics Agency backing of REalloys metallization technology, institutional investors committing approximately $100 million to accelerate construction, and the U.S. Army selecting the company to build the first commercial heavy rare earth processing operation on a U.S. military base.
