Emirates adds Bitcoin and crypto payments for flights via Crypto.com

The option is currently limited to eligible UAE residents booking on emirates.com or the Emirates App in Emirati Dirham, with checkout using Crypto.com Pay.

Emirates has begun letting customers pay with Bitcoin for flights booked through its website and app, using Crypto.com’s payment feature, according to Bitcoin Magazine.

The airline said the rollout follows an earlier 2022 tease, and the new setup works for Crypto.com account holders who select Crypto.com Pay at checkout. For now, the payment option is limited to eligible UAE residents making bookings priced and settled in Emirati Dirham.

Bitcoin Magazine reports the integration runs through Crypto.com’s Dubai-licensed entity, which the company says was the first virtual asset service provider to receive a Stored Value Facilities license from the Central Bank of the UAE.

The carrier linked the move to Dubai’s broader cashless push under the D33 Economic Agenda, which aims to make 90% of transactions across the emirate’s government and private sectors digital by the end of 2026.
