Trump voices irritation with Netanyahu ahead of Iran talks

Trump said Netanyahu was sharing Iran-related talking points publicly to keep the US president involved, according to Reuters citing remarks made ahead of their Tuesday meeting.

U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters he was irritated with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ahead of their planned White House meeting on Tuesday, complaining that details of Netanyahu’s intended talking points on Iran have surfaced publicly, Reuters reported.

Reuters said the New York Post reported Netanyahu was expected to provide intelligence to Trump on Iran’s nuclear buildup at a deeply buried fortified site dubbed Pickaxe Mountain and that it was lying about wanting a peace deal, citing a source in Jerusalem.

When asked about the reports, Trump responded that he did not need Netanyahu to tell him, saying Netanyahu was sharing the information because he wants Trump to stay involved, Reuters added.

The report also noted that relations with Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky have warmed as Ukraine has blunted Russian advances, while Netanyahu has faced White House frustration over a lack of progress toward a broader settlement in the Iran conflict.
