Zama says it hit 1,000 confidential transfers per second on GPUs
The CEO said Zama has not activated the benchmark on any live network yet, with mainnet performance planned for later this year.
Zama CEO Rand Hindi said the fully homomorphic encryption firm reached 1,000 confidential transfers per second on GPUs, describing the figure as a milestone for its onchain privacy technology. Hindi said the benchmark is self-reported and was posted on X, and that it has not been activated on any live network.
Fully homomorphic encryption, or FHE, allows computations to run on encrypted data without decrypting it, and Zama applies the approach to confidential token transfers on public blockchains. Hindi also said the company’s FHE node costs about $0.000004 per ERC7984 transaction, framing that as orders of magnitude cheaper than zero-knowledge proofs, though the cost comparison was not independently verified here.
Hindi said Zama is planning to activate the performance on mainnet at the end of the year, alongside other features and improvements. He tied the 1,000 tps goal to confidence in launching on chains faster than Ethereum, where users expect low latency, high throughput and near-zero gas fees, and set longer term targets of 10,000 tps by 2028 and 100,000 tps by 2030.
The benchmark comes as the protocol has recently expanded: its confidential RFQ swap product went live on July 24, and Zama partnered with Elliptic on July 21 to add compliance screening to confidential transactions. The company also said its protocol shielded more than 121 million USDT on Ethereum in its first weeks, and that it co-founded the Confidential Token Association with OpenZeppelin and Inco.
