ADNOC LNG tanker exits Strait of Hormuz as UAE exports continue
Bloomberg cited an ADNOC LNG tanker reportedly leaving the Strait with location devices turned off, amid earlier attacks on Qatari LNG shipments.
The UAE is continuing liquefied natural gas exports despite risks tied to the Strait of Hormuz, according to OilPrice, citing a Bloomberg report. It said an ADNOC LNG tanker appeared in the Persian Gulf earlier today after successfully exiting the strait, reportedly with its location devices turned off to avoid detection.
The same report noted that earlier this month, Iranian forces attacked a Qatari LNG carrier, which helped curb energy shippers appetite for risky movements. OilPrice said the developments highlight both the precarious conditions affecting Gulf oil and gas exporters and the ongoing strength of demand for LNG.
OilPrice added that ADNOC was also loading another LNG carrier at its Das Island facility at the end of last week. It said ADNOC has been stepping up liquefied gas activity as Qatar declared force majeure on its Ras Laffan LNG hub.
The article further outlined ADNOC logistics plans, including a $900 million order for four newbuild LNG carriers and $2.5 billion of LNG carrier investment under construction, with delivery scheduled from 2028 and vessels on 20-year time charters to ADNOC Gas.
It also said LNG importers have tried to press Qatar and the UAE to seek lower liquefied natural gas prices.
