Apple tops $5 trillion market cap for the second time
Apple shares rose nearly 2% to a 52-week high of $342.89 before closing up 0.9% at $340.08.
Apple briefly touched a $5 trillion market capitalization in Tuesday trading, making it the second publicly listed company to reach the milestone after Nvidia, according to LiveMint Markets. The stock hit a 52-week high of $342.89, then pared gains and ended the session up 0.94% at $340.08.
Apple also extended a three-session winning streak and reclaimed the position of the world’s largest publicly traded company from Nvidia on Monday. Year-to-date, the stock is up 25%, with the article noting those gains have outpaced other “Magnificent 7” technology names including Meta, Alphabet, and Microsoft.
The report says Apple has gained 17.5% so far this month, after a 7.3% decline in the previous month, attributing the strength to renewed investor confidence in the company’s business, its artificial intelligence initiatives, and its product ecosystem.
Apple is scheduled to report third-quarter earnings on Thursday, July 30. The article adds that analysts expect Apple quarterly revenue to rise more than 15% year over year and notes that John Ternus, Apple’s vice-president of hardware engineering, has been named as its next chief executive, succeeding Tim Cook, who will step down on September 1, 2026.
