Bitcoin and ethereum fall before two-day Fed meeting
CME Group FedWatch shows a 35.8% chance the Fed will raise rates after the meeting, up from 25.7% last week.
Bitcoin opened at $63,706.66 on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, down 2.5% from Monday’s opening level, and by 8:34 a.m. ET it was trading at $63,327.39, according to Yahoo Finance.
Ethereum opened at $1,890.67, down 3.2% from Monday’s opening price, and it slipped to $1,877.71 by 8:34 a.m. ET.
The move lower came ahead of a two-day Federal Reserve meeting that concludes tomorrow, which some analysts described as especially difficult to forecast, Yahoo Finance said.
Yahoo Finance cited CME Group’s FedWatch tool, showing a 35.8% chance of a Fed rate increase after the meeting, compared with 25.7% last week, while it said crypto volatility is expected to continue as markets weigh other developments including recent negative AI news and potential peace developments in the Middle East.
