IRGC fires ballistic missiles at US base and CENTCOM in Jordan

Despite reports of the attack, the US Dollar Index was 0.1% lower at about 101.27 during European trade, suggesting limited immediate USD reaction.

In European trade, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it fired several ballistic missiles at a United States air base and the military Central Command (CENTCOM) center in Jordan, according to FXStreet.

Earlier, a Jordan spokesperson said the country intercepted five missiles launched from Iran, the outlet noted, citing state reporting. The story also said there was no immediate reaction seen in the US Dollar despite concerns that the escalation could widen military aggression in the Middle East.

At press time, FXStreet reported the US Dollar Index (DXY) was trading 0.1% lower at around 101.27. The briefing framed the USD’s moves in the context of monetary policy, saying the Federal Reserve’s interest-rate decisions are the most important factor affecting the currency’s value.
