MoonPay launches PayBox payment vault inside Claude and ChatGPT
The vault uses MPC and TEE cryptography so neither MoonPay nor the AI can access funds or sign transactions alone, and it supports Solana plus seven Ethereum-compatible chains at launch.
MoonPay has launched PayBox, a payment vault that is embedded inside Claude and ChatGPT and is designed to let AI agents execute transactions on a user’s behalf. Decrypt describes PayBox as a secure digital safe that stores both crypto wallets and payment cards, with the AI arranging the transaction after the user specifies what they want to do.
Instead of giving a single party signing access to user funds, MoonPay says wallet keys are protected using MPC and TEE cryptography, so neither MoonPay nor the AI itself can access a user's funds or sign transactions alone. Users approve spending with a passkey stored on their phone or device, such as Face ID for payments, before the money moves.
PayBox is launching with first integrations for restaurant reservations, flight bookings, and shopping across major online retailers. The service also supports token swaps, bridging funds between blockchains, and routing money into DeFi protocols such as Aave.
At launch, PayBox supports Solana and seven Ethereum-compatible chains, including Ethereum, Hyperliquid, Tempo, Base, Robinhood Chain, Arbitrum, and Polygon. MoonPay also positioned PayBox to connect to x402, an open payment protocol developed by Coinbase and backed by major payments and tech companies, to let AI agents pay services that support agent-initiated transactions.
