Tether launches GENIUS-compliant USAT stablecoin on Celo

Tether has launched its GENIUS-compliant USAT stablecoin on Celo, expanding support beyond Ethereum, according to The Block.

The Block said the USAT stablecoin can be used to pay for gas on the Celo blockchain, which is intended to reduce the need for users to hold multiple tokens to complete transactions.

By using USAT for gas, the company is positioning the stablecoin as a single-payment option for transfers and on-chain activity in the Celo ecosystem, The Block reported.
