Bitcoin holds near $64,000 as AI-linked stocks lift risk sentiment

Bitcoin traded around $63,900 as S&P 500 futures rose 0.2% and Nasdaq 100 contracts gained 0.4%, helped by Microsoft’s premarket rally after cloud growth at its fastest pace in four years.

Bitcoin was trading near $63,900 on Thursday, edging slightly as markets took cues from the U.S. stock tape rather than crypto-specific developments, according to CoinDesk. The report framed Bitcoin as tracking the broader chip and AI complex, with moves tied to risk sentiment.

CoinDesk data showed U.S. stock futures rose after a period when the S&P 500 had slipped into a correction. S&P 500 futures were up 0.2%, while Nasdaq 100 contracts gained 0.4%.

Microsoft shares rose about 8% in premarket, and CoinDesk said the reaction centered on the company’s cloud unit growth, described as the fastest pace in four years, alongside a decision to hold the line on spending.

CoinDesk also noted that bitcoin and ether markets are driven by perpetual futures, or perps, underscoring how derivatives positioning can influence day to day price action even when the catalyst is outside crypto.
